Are you in the holiday spirit yet?  It takes some of us longer to fully dive into the season.  But it turns out the being in the holiday spirit is good for your health!  Here are some ways that being generous this time of year can be good for you!

  • Lowers your blood pressure. A study found that people who support their friends and family, both financially and emotionally, have lower blood pressure. And they fell more supported in return.
  • Reduces strees. A study found that people who refused to donate money to charity, had higher levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
  • It makes you happier.  In 2007, researchers scanned people's brains and gave them the choice to either keep $100 or donate it to charity.  And the pleasure-centers of their brains lit up MORE when they gave it away.

So donate of volunteer this holiday season!  It's the right thing to do, and it's good FOR you!
