The holiday season should be filled with fun and joy.  But it can also be dangerous.  Kids are out on Christmas break, traffic increases due to holiday travel.  Here are some hidden dangers to remember this month, so you can remain happy and healthy this holiday season!

  • Christmas Trees.  40 people die every year from Christmas tree fires.  One in three are caused by electrical fires, and one is six because the tree is too close to a heater!
  • Opening Presents.  6.000 people each year visit the E.R. after suffering an injury from trying to open a package.
  • Sledding.  The National Safety Council says over 33,000 people are injured in sledding accidents each year, mostly from collisions with trees, fences and rocks.
  • Putting Up Decorations.  More than 5,000 people fall and injury themselves while hanging decorations each year.
  • Heart Attacks.  At least one study found that more people die from heart attacks on December 25th, than any other day of the year.
