Ever since my diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer in 2009, I have been involved in The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. If you've never experienced a Relay For Life before it's an amazing “coming together” of people whose lives have been touched by this horrible disease. There are survivors, family members, health care professionals, and those who know someone who has battled or is battling cancer. There are tears, joy, hugs, stories shared, music, laughter, and more!

KHAK has taken an active role in participating in several Relays around Eastern Iowa. Whether it's the Linn County Relay, the Jones County Relay, the Keokuk County Relay, or an event in YOUR community, you can participate and know that you are helping raise money for the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer. On a personal note, the treatment drug I am currently taking to battle the disease was only approved by the FDA less than two years ago and came about by research and trials that was funded, in part, by the American Cancer Society.
