The Iowa men's basketball team held a players-only meeting on Saturday. What was said in that meeting isn't being revealed, but you can bet two straight losses in the Big 10 had something to do with the gathering being called. What does the meeting signal? Are the Hawks in trouble heading into March?

What was said in Saturday's meeting? Jarrod Uthoff was mum when talking to the Des Moines Register saying, "“I don’t really want to get into our team meeting. We’re fine. We’re absolutely fine. We’re looking forward to Wednesday. We can’t wait. We’re itching to get out there and compete.”

Iowa had a week off in between games, and it couldn't have come at a better time. Several players said that the break has been a good chance to rest and recharge for the stretch run. With four games left, Iowa controls its own destiny. Win them all, and the Hawks will be outright Big 10 champs. Go 3-1 and win against Indiana, and Iowa will get a share of the regular season crown. Iowa is ranked 8th in this week's polls and is 11-3 in Big 10 play. Can a players-only meeting work at this point in the season? Recent history says yes.

Just one year ago Aaron White called a players-only meeting after a loss to Northwestern. Iowa's record had dropped to 6-6 in Big 10 play. Iowa responded by winning their final six games of the season and finished third in conference play. This Iowa team certainly has strong senior leadership. Uthoff, Woodbury and Gessel should hold everyone accountable for their play, and help right the ship. The first test is Wednesday against Wisconsin.
