Hawkeyes Try and Break the Sports Illustrated Cover Jinx
The Iowa Hawkeye football team is rolling! Top 3 in the latest A.P. poll and last night top 4 in the College Football Playoff poll! Only Nebraska and the Big Ten Championship game stand in their way to a spot in the college football playoff! Then, yesterday happened. This is the single biggest obstacle facing the Hawkeyes this week. The Sports Illustrated Cover jinx!
THIS list of coincidences. And Iowa fans have a reason to fear the jinx. In 2009, an undefeated Iowa team quarterbacked by Ricky Stanzi was on the cover. We all laughed. The jinx wouldn't hit Iowa, right? Wrong. The next week, Stanzi was injured and Iowa lost at home to Northwestern. So will the jinx hit the Hawks again? Head coach Kirk Ferentz doesn't seem worried.
