It has been an incredible year in sports in the state of Iowa.  Iowa basketball, Mens and Womens was hot earlier this year.  The Kernels made it all the way to the end.  We had 2 HS State soccer champs. We have a new professional indoor soccer team now in Cedar Rapids.  The Roughriders were phenomenal last year and are off to another good start.  The Titans, our pro indoor football team, made it to the post season for yet another year. Even the numerous Iowa fans of the Cards and the Cubs had exciting post seasons.  We're also getting an outdoor Iowa wrestling event this year.  (And I know there's so many more huge successes I'm missing.)

On top of all that success, the Hawkeye football team, which had little excitement preseason (and record low opening attendance), has now gone 8-0. 8-0! That HUGE!  Excitement is everywhere.  Well, in the state at least.  The rest of the country still seems to be slow to recognize the great achievement.  Granted, our opponents haven't been the strongest ranked either.  But last I check, being undefeated still means a lot.  And while we're excited to be in the top 10, holding the 10th spot is a bit unsatisfying for such a remarkable season.  I guess it's all in part thanks to the "Glorious SEC" (sarcasm). To quote Rodney Dangerfield, "No Respect."  Did you see the great video played during Saturday's game?  Love it.

Keep strong Hawkeyes!  They'll recognize how good we are... eventually!
