I've never understood putting much faith into a rodents prediction of the weather.  Forecasters with degrees in meterology don't always get the forecast right, so how can we expect a groundhog to?  Yet, every February 2nd, all eyes turn to Punxsutawney Phil and his shadow.  The prediction for 2015?  Phil saw his shadow, so get ready for 6 more weeks of winter.  But how often does Phil actually get it right, shadow or no shadow?  Since 1969, Phil's predictions have come true just 39% of the time.  Yes, the odds of the weather doing what the groundhop says it will are worse than a simple coin flip.  I'm ready for spring just as much as you are, especially after the snow storm of this weekend.  But listen to the trainined weathermen and women.  They tend to go on more than just their shadow.
