Grocery Chain To Open New Cedar Rapids Location

The Fresh Market location that has sat vacant along Collins Road in Cedar Rapids since 2016, will soon have a new tenant.

Fresh Market served a niche geared toward organic products but evidently wasn't able to sustain a store on heavily-used Collins Road. Aldi now plans to open a new location there.

This will be their fourth store in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area. The others are at 5425 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE and 1860 Edgewood Rd. SE in Cedar Rapids and 1001 50th St. in Marion.

Aldi is a grocery chain focusing on economical products and the new location will potentially give competition to a Hy-Vee just down the road at 279 Collins Rd. NE.

This is another great option for those on a budget. While not much is known about when the store will open, it's likely we can expect the same quality affordable merchandise available in every other Aldi store.

We shop at Aldi all the time and love it. Commuters on Collins Road will appreciate a quick spot for a grocery run on the way home.
