Cedar Rapids will be celebrating Grant Wood's 125th birthday in a big way this year. Twenty-four statues of Grant Wood's famous painting "American Gothic" featuring a midwest farmer and his daughter will be standing all throughout Cedar Rapids starting May 1. Each one will be different, as local artists will add their own flair to the piece. The name of the project is called 'Overalls All Over' and will be on display from May 1 through September.

The 'Overalls All Over' project will include twenty-four 6' tall, life-sized statues made of fiberglass depicting the 'American Gothic' painting's farmer and daughter. Statues will be on parade from May 1 and leading up to the NewBo Arts Festival on Labor Day weekend.

The locations of these statues have yet to be announced. We'll have more details in the next few weeks.
