[UPDATE, 4:30 p.m., Monday August 20KCCI-TV reports Grandview's cinderella run ends Monday afternoon as they fall to Michigan, 5-4.]

The boys of summer from Grandview are having the time of their lives and playing their hearts out.

The Des Moines Register reports that the Midwest representative in the LLWS will continue on in its quest for the title in Williamsport, Pennsylavania.

After losing Game 1 to Staten Island, New York last week, Grandview Little League from the Des Moines area had a make-or-break elimination game this weekend, and pulled through to beat Rhode Island, 9-5.

The team will play again today at 2 p.m. against Michigan, who is representing the Great Lakes region. Little League World Series games are available on television through ESPN (check local listings, as they say), and the web-streaming service ESPN+.

The last Des Moines area team to make it this far was Johnston in 2016, and Grandview is returning to the fold this year after an appearance in 2015.

They're calling Grandview's run "east-side pride" in reference to Grandview's place in the Des Moines Little League scene. We're just calling it "Iowa pride".
