Whether he knows it or not, Alan Jackson made a difference in the lives of one grandmother and her family recently with his music.

In a sweet video posted on YouTube, a woman with dementia is shown holding a tablet in her hands and watching Jackson sing his version of the hymn "In the Garden," singing along with every word. Family members in the background can be heard expressing their surprise that she knows the lyrics, even though she is fighting the memory loss that comes with the disease.

Grammy wasn’t fazed, though.

“Oh yeah!” she responds when a woman off-camera commends her for knowing the words, as if it's no big deal. The Kindle, however, impressed her. "I love this," she says, examining the device.

Another family member offers to give her a tablet they have, before Grammy requests another tune.

The heartwarming video shows the power of music for patients with Alzheimer's. According to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, when used in the right way, music can allow the patient to “shift mood, manage stress-induced agitation, stimulate positive interactions, facilitate cognitive function, and coordinate motor movements."

Jackson’s version of "In the Garden" was released on his gospel record Precious Memories in 2006, though the hymn has been covered by many other country artists over the years. The artist is currently on his Keepin' It Country Tour, which he recently extended, bringing along Lauren Alaina as the opener. Shows run through November of this year.
