‘Good Samaritan’ Killed While Trying To Help Driver On I-80
An Illinois man was killed Sunday morning along Interstate 80 as he tried to help the driver of an overturned semi-trailer.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened when an eastbound semi driven by 37-year-old Destom Kidane of Texas overturned near the Victor exit at around 1:39 a.m. Sunday morning. A car approached the crash and a passenger in that vehicle, 43-year-old Stanislow Gruszka, exited the car in an attempt to help.
As he returned to his car to call 911, two other cars collided as they approached the scene of the original accident. One of those vehicles stuck and killed Gruszka.
It was the second fatal accident in Iowa County in the past three days.
