Girl’s State Volleyball Tournament Begins Today in Cedar Rapids

The buses and crowds will descend upon downtown Cedar Rapids today as the Girl's State Volleyball Tournament begins at the U.S. Cellular Center at noon today. The event brings thousands of people from around the state to Cedar Rapids, and that means a lot more people to watch for downtown. But it also means a lot more green too!

The event is a huge one for the city. Many fans will stay in hotels. They'll visit restaurants and shops. The bottom line? They'll spend money! So while many will be focused on who wins inside the U.S. Cellular Center, the city of Cedar Rapids has already won.

Once again this year, area teams are well represented. Iowa City West, Cedar Falls, and Cedar Rapids Kennedy all play today in class 5A. While West Delaware, Western Dubuque and Marion all take the court today in class 4A. Get the complete tournament schedule HERE.
