Get Ready For Your ‘Indian Summer’ Today

It's a term that has been around since the 1700's, but in all honesty, in today's politically correct world, I'm surprised it's still around. The term? 'Indian Summer'. If you're wondering what and Indian Summer is, you're going to experience one today.

An Indian Summer is a period of abnormally warm conditions after we've had the first frost or freeze of the fall. Last week we had the first hard freeze of the year with some spots in Iowa seeing temperatures in the upper 20's. Flash forward to today where the high is expected to reach the low 80's!

The weather pattern is called different things around the world. In parts of Europe, it's called an 'Old Woman's Summer'. Ouch, sorry ladies. In other parts of the world, it's simply called 'Little Summer'. No matter what you call it, enjoy it! Temperatures are expected to fall back into the 60's and then the 50's for highs later this week.
