Gas prices in Iowa are on the rise again. The price increase at the pump is being blamed on refinery work in the Midwest. However, experts say a larger number of refineries than normal are down, leading to the current spike in gas prices. Last week, refineries were operating at 87 percent capacity, down from 98 percent which is causing a dip in supply.

The good news? The 30 cent spike in prices won't last too long. Experts say that gas prices should return to premaintenance levels around Thanksgiving. Some are still predicting $2 a gallon or cheaper by Christmas. Even with the price spike, gas is still 60 to 70 cents cheaper than this time last year.
