It has been fun the past month or so to watch gas prices continue their fall to below 2 dollars a gallon!  And while that's welcome news to everyone's budget, we ARE going to pay more in 2015 for some items.  Here are a few.

  • Beef.  The USDA says the beef prices rose 14% in 2014, and say they could go up another 5% this year.
  • Electricity. It depends on where you live, and how harsh the winter heating season is, but you could pay anywhere from 4 to 10% more.
  • Eggs.  New laws are being enacted in egg producing states that will affect production, especially in the short term.  Prices could spike, by up to 40% in some areas like California.
  • Data. More carriers are getting rid of their "unlimited" plans, so if you gobble up data, you could be paying more.
  • Coffee.  Blame Brazil's drought for this one.  Prices on everything from Folgers to K-Cups have risen and could continue to in 2015.
  • Cable and Satelite TV.  Like you didn't already know this, right?  Just check your bill.  Cable companies blame the networks for raising their prices.  Ready to cut the cord yet?
  • SUV's.  Blame the falling price of gas.  People are willing to buy vehicles that don't get the best mileage because the price of fuel is so low.  That creates demand, which leads to higher prices.
  • All Things Taylor Swift. She pulled her music from Spotify, so know if you want to hear her album 1989, you have to pay for it on iTunes, or buy the CD.  And her upcoming tour will be the hottest of the year, which equals high ticket prices.

In other words, enjoy the price of gas, because not everything will be as afordable!
