Garth Brooks and I have something in common. We're both raising 2 daughters. Sure, Garth's girls are older, but both of us have the tremendous responsibilty to raise our girls and keep them safe! Garth took the task so seriously he retired from music so he could help raise them. Now, I'm not going to "retire" from radio until my girls are in college, but what I will do is listen to more advice from Garth. He offers up 5 tips for raising girls.

  1. Always be on call, because something is bound to happen.
  2. Let them fail. You can't succeed if you don't know how it feels to fail.
  3. Put them to work. Wait tables, clean toilets. It teaches you how to treat others.
  4. Test their dates. Make sure she can drive by 16. That way if something goes wrong on a date, she can drive herself home.
  5. Always set consequences. If the grades fall, take things away.
