1990 was the year that Garth Brooks' career took off, due in no small part to a multi-week #1 song. Garth re-recorded the song recently with an incredible list of superstar performers.

Garth Brooks updated his 1990 hit, "Friends in Low Places" with special guests Keith Urban, George Strait, Florida Georgia Line, and Jason Aldean. The original version of the song was a multi-week #1 that also took home Single of the Year honors from both the Academy of Country Music Awards and the Country Music Association Awards. The plan was for the song to be re-released along with the album it originated on, 'No Fences,' just in time for the holiday shopping season. However, that is now on hold.

Billboard reports that a non-traditional retailer was to purchase one million copies of a special 25th Anniversary edition of 'No Fences.' There would be a discounted royalty rate paid to publishers to allow the retailer to buy them at a lower price. However, that's where the problem arose. Some of the publishers wouldn't agree to the discount. Garth called to ask why, and he understood the reasoning as he told Billboard, "They said to protect the songwriters. I respect that. That’s been my whole thing since day one; you have to protect the songwriters.”

So for now, we'll have to wait to hear that new song from Garth, George, Brian, Tyler, Jason, and Keith. The only question now is, how long?
