It was another crazy, hectic weekend of running kids to activities. Our girls, Carly and Cayleigh, had the craziest weekend. They not only both had softball games, but they also had their dance recital. It was a reminder of the joys of having daughters. There is literally nothing they can't do!

Watching my son Chase progress through the sporting ranks as he has, has been a blast to watch. He's played everything from soccer to wrestling and baseball and football. He's at the stage now where things are getting pretty competitive. The girls are at the other end of the spectrum. They're just getting started. The games against other teams are still for fun. They don't keep score. You clap for both teams. It's the way sports are supposed to be. Both girls are in softball this year. Both seem to have an aptitude for it. But both of them just love to play. I can't explain the joy of seeing them run down the base path.

After the games were over, the cleats came off, and the ballet slippers went on! Both girls performed routines at their dance recital over the weekend. It was a cool juxtaposition to playing softball. The cheering and yelling is replaced by the silence of the crowd and the music of the routine. No more sprinting down to first. Now it's choreographed dance moves and hitting your marks. Both of them made me so proud. Seeing them up on stage performing in front of hundreds of people makes me realize that my girls are on their way. On their way to doing whatever it is they want to do. Ball gloves or ballet slippers. I'll be beside them either way.
