Former Iowa corner Charles Godfrey announced his retirement from the NFL after eight seasons in the pros. Godfrey was a third round selection of the Carolina Panthers in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Godfrey spent the majority of his career in Carolina, and in Atlanta. He signed with the Falcons in 2014 and also played for them in 2015. Godfrey signed a one-year deal with Atlanta in March.

Godfrey was second team All-Big Ten with Iowa in 2007.
