The Iowa Department of Public Health said since October 2nd, at least 25 influenza (flu) related deaths have occurred in the state of Iowa.

The most deaths were people age 81 & older, 19 deaths. Only 2 people died from flu related problems in the age group of people 61-80. The other deaths were ages 60 and younger.

Flu is a viral respiratory illness with symptoms that include cough, sore throat, fever, headaches, nasal congestion and body aches.
