Five Tips For Runners For Our 5K Rave Run
We can’t wait for the neon, black lights, music, and all the great family fun of our big 5K Rave Run on August 16. However, we realize many of you may not be runners, per say. That’s why I wanted to provide you some tips. Here’s things to keep in mind as you look ahead to August 16.
Eat right. What you put in your body is huge, not only in your day-to-day life, but also when it comes to the energy for exercise. Pre-race, try eating things like pasta with salmon, rice with chicken, or a good ol’ peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Even though the weather’s been cool lately, mid-August could be a steamy one. Even if it’s not humid, it’s still important to drink plenty of water throughout the day in preparation.
The correct shoes are critical. Make sure they’re designed for what you intend on doing be it walking, running, cross training, etc.. and that they’re properly ‘broken in’ before the race. Unhappy feet can ruin your fun.
Sure it takes a little extra time, but if you aren’t properly stretched before running you risk muscle pulls or tears. I don’t know about you, but I’ll take that little extra time for stretching every time.
It’s not a timed race so we encourage everyone to just have fun with it! We’ll even provide you some neon glow gear day of! Make sure you pre-register for the race so you don’t miss out on the exclusive event shirt and other glow items.
