Downtown businesses and motorists should get ready for another one way to two-way conversion in Cedar Rapids. The final stages of the conversion process are for the remaining one-way portion of 3rd Avenue and will begin in the spring.

To help everyone get ready for the final round of construction, the city will be holding an open house on Thursday afternoon to go over the details of the plan. Changing the remaining one-way portion of 3rd Ave. will take the entire construction season.

The switch to two-way streets has changed traffic patterns in the downtown area. instead of one-way traffic leaving as quickly as possible, more of an urban traffic flow has been created. More consideration has also been given to pedestrian and bike traffic as well.

The open house will take place on Thursday afternoon from noon to 1 p.m. It will be held at the Cedar Rapids Metro Alliance office at 501 1st Street S.E.
