An in-depth investigation involving baseball, yes baseball, has determined it was June 5, 1985 that Ferris Bueller actually took his day off.

BaseballProspectus.com has analyzed that day's baseball game at Wrigley Field in Chicago and confirmed that's the game that Sloane, Cameron, and Ferris were on hand for when Cameron started his chant:

The movie was released just over a year later, on June 11th, 1986. Three things still stand out to me. This song:

It was the first time I fell in love with Jennifer Grey. I'd fall in love with her again the following year when 'Dirty Dancing' was released. (NSFW language)

Finally, I'd never be brave enough to try and pull an iota of what Ferris did during his day off. As a high school kid at that time, I think many of us lived through him on that screen while we reminded ourselves it was indeed only a movie. A great one at that.
