Father’s Day a Time to Reflect on a Tough Job

I hope all dads had a great Father's Day weekend!  My special day included time with my 3 kids and my wife.  We had a nice brunch out, and spent some time at a farmer's market and the park.  But it also brought with it some reflection on what being a parent is.

My parents always told me, "wait until YOU have kids!"  I never understood what they meant until...you guessed it...I had kids of my own.  It the hardest job you'll ever have.  But there won't be a job that has better rewards.  Sure, there are trying times.  They won't eat their food.  They won't share.  Fighting.  Swearing.  Sometimes all of those things at once!  But with one little phrase, "I love you dad", all is forgiven.  Maybe I'm easy.  But somewhere, my parents are smiling.
