Not many of us are thinking of winter right now. The weather has been hot and humid. School isn't even back in session yet. But leave it to The Old Farmer's Almanac to bring up the nasty cold and snow that lies ahead. They annual publication has just made their predictions for the winter of 2015-2016. Brace yourselves.

The Almanac predicts above average snowfall and frigid temperatures for much of New England, icy conditions for the South, and the midwest will enjoy frigid temperatures for the upcoming winter. They also predict that nearly everyone who wants a white Christmas will get their wish. The news is not good for the West, in particular, California. That state is mired in a record drought. Below average rainfall is forecast for that region.
