Sunday brought nearly perfect fall weather to Eastern Iowa and it was time for Julie and me to explore the great outdoors in northeast Iowa.

We made stops in Manchester, where we visited the new whitewater rafting course... as you might expect, no one was on the water on a frosty morning. We then headed to Elkader and the banks of the Turkey River. Then it was on to the extreme eastern part of the state where we stopped by Pikes Peak State Park. We were a little late for the color show, but it was still beautiful. Finally, we stopped off at Effigy Mounds National Monument. You talk about a walk to the top. Wow! The mounds are nothing short of incredible and the views from the top of the bluff are absolutely unbelievable. It was a reminder that we don't have to go thousands of miles to see beautiful sights. We have them right here in Iowa... 90 minutes or less away.

This morning, Brain and Courtlin asked you to share the last photo on your phone to our Facebook page. The results were incredible! We've made a photo gallery of many of the entries which you can see below.
