Presented by Thomas R. Flagel, author of the History Buff’s Guide series and history professor at Columbia State Community College in Tennessee

Come hear the talk Thomas Flagel delivered on the closing weekend at the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg at the Gettysburg National Military Park, July 2013. He now brings this compelling and emotional talk to Granger House.
It was the largest Civil War reunion ever held. More than 50,000 veterans came together for the “Golden Jubilee” of Gettysburg, to commemorate each other, to find peace, and to observe a milestone anniversary.
Much has been written of that Grand Reunion, yet most of the stories revolve around particular events of the week. What is often overlooked is the bigger picture. What had happened to those aging veterans since the war’s end? What were they looking for when they returned to these hallowed grounds? What was the state of their lives by the summer of 1913?
In a multimedia presentation, Thomas will look at these veterans of blue and gray who returned to Gettysburg a century ago – these men who shaped history – to find how history shaped them.

We expect this event to sell out quickly! Get your reservations in today! Only pre-paid registrants will have guaranteed seating.
