The costume contest will begin at 3 p.m. (registration at 1:30 p.m.). KHAK's Brain and Courtlin will host the event and broadcast live beginning at 1 p.m. The Cedar Rapids Dog-O-Ween contests have been postponed for 2017 due to a local outbreak of Parvo.  Brain & Courtlin will be at the Coralville store this year!

This event will raise funds for the Johnson County Humane Society. Entry is a $10 donation. No pre-registration before that day is necessary.

A panel of judges will evaluate each dog’s costume. There are two categories, Dog Only and Dog & Person(s). The highest scoring winning “overall best” will win the grand prize for each category. There will also be prizes for the first, second and third runner-up for each category. A trophy will be awarded to each winner in addition to the prizes. All entries will receive a Theisen’s coupon just for entering the contest! All prizes and coupons are donated by Theisen’s. A photo background will be set up for anyone who wishes to photograph his/her dog with their own camera.

  • For your dog's safety, Theisen's will REQUIRE current vaccination records from all participants. Records must show proof of rabies and the canine Distemper/Parvo/Bordetella vaccine. The distemper is typically abbreviated as "DHPPV,” “DHPP,” “DA2PP,” or “DA2PPV”.
