A Winthrop woman is behind bars this morning, accused of assaulting two nurses while she was hospitalized at UnityPoint-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

27-year-old Trisha Carnicle is accused of grabbing one nurse by the hair and tossing her to the ground. Then, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, she began to punch the nurse in the back of the head. The nurse suffered cuts and minor injuries during the attack. Another nurse wasn't hurt.

The charges she facing are likely something you've never heard before, at least not this specific:

  • Assault on a Peace Officer or Persons in Certain Occupations Causing Injury (Felony)
  • Assault on a Peace Officer or Persons in Certain Occupations (Serious Misdemeanor)

Carnicle is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail in Waterloo. Her bond is $3,000. She'll also have a hospital bill waiting for her.
