Last night, Julie and I were walking Cooper when I noticed something in a neighbor's yard. I had to do a double-take when I saw the largest mushroom I'd ever laid eyes on. It was about seven inches across and without the edge being torn off, would've looked more like a small bird bath than a mushroom. However, it was still holding some water.

Mushrooms are prevalent in many yards this year, including ours. They love cool weather and rain & those two have been pretty common in Iowa this summer. I can't stand the things. We often pick them out of our grass before mowing, so they don't make a huge mess when hit by the lawn mower. Will they cause problems? HGTV says no and they're actually good because they help feed the yard and are an indication that your lawn is healthy. So, I guess I'll just try to overlook them. If only they weren't so darn ugly. Or were morels instead. Yeah, that would downright awesome.
