The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is issuing a warning to anyone with a private well for drinking water. If your well is in a flooded area, use extreme caution. They say that even if your well hasn't been overrun with flood water, it could still be contaminated if your neighbors well was compromised and it had structural issues.

People who have wells in flood inflicted areas are urged to use an alternate source of water until their systems can be checked by the DNR.
