Daniel Craig Apparently Offered $150 Million to Keep Playing Bond
Remember way back when people criticized Daniel Craig’s casting as James Bond, with some even saying he was too blond for the role? Well, the times have changed, and with Sony searching for new some new blood to eventually fill 007’s shoes, it looks like they’re willing to pay Craig the big bucks to stick around for a few more installments.
Craig has proved to be an incomparable James Bond, even a favorite, with his less campy and more down-to-earth take on the hero, and he’s starred in some of the best Bond movies to date. According to Radar, a source has reported that Sony is offering Craig $150 million dollars to return for two more movies.
According to the source, “The studio is desperate to secure the actor’s services while they phase in a younger long-term successor.” A few big names are being whispered about to take over the role, including Tom Hiddleston, Michael Fassbender, and Idris Elba (even though he said he wasn’t in any talks at the moment).
“Everyone knows how much executives adore him, and the idea of losing him at such a crucial time in the franchise isn’t an option as far as all the studio honchos are concerned,” the source said. The Bond franchise has recently dipped a toe into 007’s past, with both Skyfall and Spectre offering clues about Bond’s childhood and why he joined MI6. This could all be rumor, and nothing will be certain until Sony itself makes an official announcement, but it would seem odd to have Craig bow out when we’ve just started to peek a little deeper and see just what makes this Bond iteration tick.
