CR Police Investigating Murder

Cedar Rapids police continue to investigate the facts and circumstances of the unattended death of an adult male found lying in the street in the 1800 block of B Avenue NE early this morning.   Officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m. this morning after receiving a call that a body was lying in the street.  The man was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been identified as Clifton Diapolis Sparks, DOB/01-16-1983, age 31, of 1518 7^th Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids.

Investigators have determined that the victim sustained a traumatic injury and are investigating the incident as a homicide.  The cause of death is pending an autopsy.  

The Police Department does not believe there is any immediate threat to the public.  No further information is available at this time.
