Once a year, middle school kids have giant targets on their back, with their every move being closely watched by select Cedar Rapids Police Officers.  For that matter, the Officers are also being targeted, by the kids. But there's no need for concern, as it's the "Kids Vs. Cops" Dodgeball Match. The Harding Middle School Student Council put the event together 8 years ago to benefit the CRPD K-9 Unit, assisting with the purchase and training of dogs and equipment, like protective vests for the dogs.

I joined the fun last year as the guest emcee, and am excited to head back today.  If you recall last year, history was made, as the 6th graders became the only non-8th grade team in the history of the event to beat the Cops.  Will history be repeated today?  Come join us for the fun from 1 – 2:45 p.m. in the school gymnasium. The cost is $3.00 to watch or play, and the dogs will be on site.
