I finally got a chance to watch a movie from my list that I had tried to watch a few weeks ago, and it was worth the wait! There were a lot of tears, though...

This is one of those movies that I've heard references to my whole life, but I've just never taken the time to see it. It was actually suggested to me by several listeners, so thanks to you guys for your recommendations! I really liked this one!

First off, I loved Kathy Bates in this. I love Kathy Bates in everything, but most things I've seen her in have been really dark and creepy, so this was a nice change. Her character was really sad at the beginning, but by the end I was a big fan of Towonda. She was so sassy! My favorite scene was when she rammed into that car in the parking lot 6 times in a row. I think we've all wished we could do that at some point in our lives.

I also really enjoyed how the past and the present tied together so seamlessly. They could've just told the story as if it was happening in the present, but they added the storytelling aspect which really brought more insight to the story. I'm still very confused about a few things though... was Ninny actually Idgie? Or did she really just marry into the family? I don't remember Idgie having another brother, other than the one that died in the beginning. The end of the movie really threw me off with that whole, "maybe we'll see her today," quote. It kind of alludes to the fact that they were the same person, but maybe I'm wrong. It was kind of weird that she had pictures of Ruth all over her room. Also, I always kind of got the feeling that Idgie was a little bit in love with Ruth. Why else would she secretly watch the wedding from afar and then not speak to her for years? Or maybe I'm misinterpreting that, as well. I've read of a lot of comments online from people who feel the same way as I do, and a lot of people who think it's totally ridiculous. Many people look to the novel for answers, but I've never read it so I can't really say. Regardless, I thought the movie was excellent and I really enjoyed it.

When Buddy died, I sobbed. When Ruth died, I sobbed. When we thought Ninny died, I sobbed. Basically I was a huge mess this entire movie. But aren't movies that make you cry always the best ones?

"A heart can be broken, but it will keep beating just the same."

I need another classic movie to watch next week, so feel free to leave suggestions in the comments!
