Last week I watched another movie from my list, and it's one that Brain has been urging me to watch for awhile now. I went for a newer movie that was nominated for numerous awards: Nightcrawler (2014).

I had no idea what I was getting into when I started this flick, but MAN was it creepy! In case you haven't heard about the movie, Jake Gyllenhaal plays a man named Louis Bloom who becomes a "nightcrawler," a person who takes video at crime scenes and sells the footage to news stations. Without giving too much away, I will let you know that Louis Bloom is one of the creepiest dudes in the history of movies. The movie is really odd and goes very slowly at first, but once things started to pick up and get more exciting, I was on the edge of my seat.

Ok, if you haven't seen the movie yet, you should stop reading NOW!

SPOILER ALERT!!!

First of all, Louis' relationship with the woman in charge at the news station is just plain weird. When he came right out and asked her to have a physical relationship with him I was BLOWN AWAY. The calm demeanor he had while he basically blackmailed her was one of the first indications that he just NOT a good guy. I also felt really bad for his homeless assistant Rick. He 1000% took advantage of him and then purposely had him KILLED. Unreal!

One of my favorite quotes from the movie is when Louis said to Rick, "What if my problem wasn't that I don't understand people, but that I don't like them?" My creeper alarm went off right in that moment. I knew that things were not going to end well for Rick.

I was really disappointed by the ending, because nothing happened. Lou wasn't convicted for his obvious crimes, and he went on to be in charge of other people, whose lives he is bound to screw up.

I was really impressed with the movie, overall. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was very well-written. And Jake Gyllenhaal was PHENOMENAL in his role. Very believable. If you haven't watched this one, I highly recommend it! It's on Netflix.

This week I'll probably go back to an older movie, so leave your suggestions for me below!
