Downtown Cedar Rapids has an awesome new lunch spot!

Friday afternoon, some coworkers and I decided to grab lunch at a brand new restaurant right down the street from the radio station. The signage has been up for a few months now, but Gianna's Italian Beef finally opened up at 375 3rd Street SE this past Monday, so we had to give it a try. I'm happy to report that we were not disappointed!

First of all, the restaurant looks really cool. Right when you walk in, you are greeted by an adorable photo of Gianna, the owner's daughter who the restaurant is named after.

The restaurant has lots of seating at both booths and tables, large windows that allow in natural light, some exposed brick, and fun lighting, which makes the interior look really cool.

But let's get to the important stuff: the FOOD. Gianna's offers a fairly small menu, but the options are all awesome. Last week I saw some photos of the Vienna Beef Hot Dog and it looked delicious, so I knew that would have to be my first order. And of course, you can't say no to having it Chicago-style:

All my friends and I also loved the shoestring fries, and fry quality is VERY important when it comes to restaurants!

Another friend of mine ordered the standard Italian Beef Sandwich dipped in beef gravy, and although I didn't get to try it, he gave it two thumbs up!

The menu also offers Italian sausage, a grilled chicken sandwich, chopped salads, and a veggie panini for those of you non-meat eaters.

Overall, the service was great, the prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious, so we will definitely be back. Oh, and here's a tip for you: it gets pretty busy in there since it's a popular new place, so if you're going for lunch, maybe try to get there right after they open at 11 a.m.! :)
