The first headliner for the eighth annual Country on the River has been announced and it's one of country music's most sought after performers, Chris Stapleton.

Stapleton burst onto the national scene by shocking the world with three wins at the 2015 Country Music Association Awards. He has since won five Academy of Country Music awards, two Grammys and most recently, two more CMA Awards earlier this month.

An incredible songwriter, and performer, Stapleton is the man behind "Fire Away," "Nobody to Blame," and his current hit "Parachute." He has twice been named the CMA's Male Vocalist of the Year and once at the ACM's. His breakthrough album, Traveller, was named country music's best album at the ACM Awards, CMA Awards, Billboard Music Awards and the Grammys.

Chris is the first of three headliners who will take the stage at Country on the River, which is Aug. 3-5, 2017, in Prairie du Chien, Wisc. Kid Rock, Lee Brice and Billy Currington headlined the 2016 festival.
