Chris Lane joined forces with Tori Kelly for his Today show debut on Tuesday (July 17), performing their duet "Take Back Home Girl."

The twosome paired up for a laid-back rendition of their hit as part of Today's Citi Concert Series. Their voices complementing each other beautifully, the rising stars croon the singalong lyrics in harmony, capturing the sweetness and chemistry of the song. Lane's voice remained strong and steady throughout, while Kelly proved why she is the country star's dream duet partner, letting her stellar vocals soar, particularly on the grand notes at the end of the song.

Lane says that when he originally cut the song and was asked who would be his ideal duet partner, Kelly was the first person who came to mind. She was on board, too.

"I got a random text message from my manager sending me the song and he was like, 'Do you like it?' and I was like, 'I actually am obsessed with it,'" Kelly says about the collaboration to Entertainment Tonight. "He didn't even tell me the artist or anything and we were like, 'Cool! Let's do it.'"

"Take Back Home Girl" is the lead single off Lane's 2018 album Laps Around the Sun and currently sits inside the Top 15 on the country charts.

“I’m very, very proud of the songs that I’ve recorded. I think people are going to be able to see the growth from my first record to this record," he tells Taste of Country. "All the way around, I love the vibe of it and I hope it takes people to certain places.”
