The body of Robyn Furmanski was removed following a fire in her condominium last month, but Cedar Rapids Police now say she may have been killed before the fire started.

The fire in the condominium at 1218 Oakland Road NE happened last Thursday morning, March 31. It was reported to fire officials at 2:42 that morning and Furmanski's body was transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, where she was pronounced dead.

Now, officials say that based on preliminary information from the State Medical Examiner's Office and their investigation, they believe that Furmanski, 62, sustained a traumatic injury prior to the fire. As a result, her death is behind investigated as a homicide.

Both the cause and place the fire started are still being investigated.
