Cedar Rapids Police Warning
A press release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department Friday caught my eye. They’ve been receiving reports of suspicious people in the backyards of some homes and others knocking on doors asking for random people. It’s believed that those knocking are looking for empty houses to rob. Meanwhile, the persons found in backyards have made a wide variety of claims about why they were there. In some cases, they have been wearing green “safety” clothing and fled when confronted.
If you see someone in your neighborhood that you believe is suspicious, ask them what they’re doing (from a distance, always keep yourself safe). If you believe something looks out of the ordinary, call your law enforcement agency’s non-emergency number and report the activity.
If you have information regarding any crime, call Linn County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-CS-CRIME (272-7463) or text to CRIMES (274637) and in the message/subject, type 5227 and your tip. You can continue to trade information with an investigator. Text STOP to opt out at any time.
Please share this information with your friends and neighbors and together we can make a safer community and a happy holiday season for everyone.
