The Cedar River is rising. The river is expected to crest in Cedar Rapids at 23.0 feet early Tuesday morning and hold there for at least six hours before beginning to fall. While the crest level continues to decrease, the rise of the river will be quicker than expected. The river will reach major flood stage of 16 feet early Monday morning. It will exceed 20 feet by early Monday afternoon.

City leaders also noted that the berms and temporary barriers being installed around the city will be completed by later today. A reminder that a curfew is also in effect from 8 p.m. tonight through 7 a.m. Monday. Police and National Guard will help patrol the flood affected area.
