Imagine a Multi-Award Winning Band singing at Your High School? That dream will come true for Students of Cascade High School.

Cascade High School had a student assembly on Tuesday afternoon in which The Band Perry appeared in a special video message to congratulate the student body on being one of two grand-prize winners in a nationwide, safe-driving contest, landing a $100,000 grant and a private concert. No time or date has been set yet for the private concert.

The school was among 3,283 across the country who participated in this year’s “Celebrate My Drive” effort. The State Farm Insurance-sponsored contest challenges teens and community members to sign online safe-driving pledges, each functioning as a “vote” for a designated school.

The school promoted the contest at athletic events, even to fans of opposing teams. And teams of students reached out to businesses, alumni and the wider community for support through email and social media.

Cascade High School is required to invest 10 percent of the $100,000 grant on a teen driver safety program for students. The school plans to use the remaining funds on school improvements, including new hallway lockers, furniture and blinds to prevent possible intruders from peering into classrooms during a lockdown.
