Carrie Underwood's 2016 CMA Awards dresses celebrated many decades of country music history. From her green and pink floral throwback to the '60s to her very modern nod to the current generation, Underwood dazzled during the show.

In total, Underwood made 12 wardrobe changes during the Nov. 2 CMA Awards. She walked the red carpet in a dusty pink Michael Cinco gown, but quickly changed into a silver mini-frock to sing a clip of Tammy Wynette's "Stand by Your Man."

Her tribute to artists like Jeannie C. Riley came next, followed by a long and loose gold and glitter gown that nodded toward '70s fashion greats. The performance look broke from her theme, but then she was back in purple and black for the '80s, a replica of Reba McEntire's early '90s CMA dress — yes, that red dress — a Rani Zakhem designed leopard print to rep the 2000s and finally, a Jovani halter gown to sing her portion of the Dolly Parton tribute.

See photos of her many looks in the gallery above. We've also included one that didn't make television. Underwood wore an all-black gown in the press room after winning Female Vocalist of the Year. It included a velvet, sleeveless top.

Which was your favorite of Underwood's many 2016 CMA Awards looks? Her outfits are always a topic of conversation after the show — the singer has proven she can wear dresses from any era of country music and wear them well. Meanwhile, her co-host Brad Paisley attempted to wear the worst country fashions. We think he succeeded, too!
