The temperatures have cooled, and soon the leaves will be changing.  Yes, fall is in the air and it's my favorite time of year. Football, apples, pumpkins, Halloween -- I love all of it! But my family has ONE fall tradition that I always skip.

Each year my wife takes my kids and her parents, and they head to Gays Mills, Wisconsin where there is a huge fall festival. Shops and vendors sell apples, cider and everything else that has to do with fall. It sounds like the perfect place for someone like me who loves the season so you might wonder why I don't go. Well, my wife schedules this trip every year on a Sunday and I can't miss my NFL football! Plus, the trip is an all day affair! The drive time up and back to Wisconsin, and then factor in time for shopping --  a whole day is shot! To my wife's credit, she doesn't even ask me anymore if I want to go. She just schedules the Sunday she's going, and that's that!

Now, before you hurl rocks at me and yell, "Curmudgeon," I DO take the kids to a local pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins each year. We do plenty of fun fall activities together.

Guys, do YOU refuse to do things because of football?  Or am I alone and in the wrong?
