Kids say the darndest things.  That used to be a tv show, and now my life is a daily reminder of why it was a hit!  My youngest daughter Cayleigh is four.  She is in pre-school, and has talked about "boys" a little bit, even calling a boy in her class her "boyfriend".  But she's four, right?  Could these be real feelings?

My wife, like many  others, picked up a copy of People's Sexiest Man Alive magazine this past week.  Chris Hemsworth is on the cover and needless to say, my wife is a big fan.  It's not unusual to hear my wife comment on how she thinks a guy is "hot".  But when four year old Cayleigh walked around the house carrying the magazine with her, calling Mr. Thor "hot", my first reaction was to laugh.  But I wondered...does she even know what "hot" means?

We're all hammered with images of what people tell us is attractive or pretty, so it's easy for kids to get stereotypes stuck in their heads.  The important thing as parents is to make sure we teach them that while yes, they may be attractive, that isn't what makes them a good person.  Yes, beauty is on the inside.  But they don't print magazines about that.
