Brain Tries The Glitter Beard

I've been growing out my beard for several months now. It's long, tangly and unkept. I'd really like to trim or even shave the dang thing off! But I've been growing it long so I could try something called a 'Glitter Beard'. It's just what it sounds like. Pouring tons of glitter and making it stick to your beard. I watched several how-to videos yesterday afternoon and last night, with the help of my wife Holly, I gave the glitter beard a go.

First of all, I knew this was going to make a huge mess, and I was right. I ended up just standing in our shower with very little on, and had Holly dump the glitter on my beard. I used a combination of hair gel and hairspray to make my beard sticky. It was still difficult to get a lot of the glitter to stay on my beard. My facial hair isn't coarse, so a lot of it didn't hold so well. I think Holly had more on her hands and shirt than I did in my beard!

The other issue is getting the glitter OFF of your skin. Not easy at all. So I not only had glitter on my beard but most of my face and even some on my lips too! All in all, it was an OK first attempt. Next time I may use a brighter color of glitter that shows up better in my dark beard. It took 3 rinses in the shower to get all the glitter off by the way. But I'm proud to say I'm glitter free this morning! So Merry Christmas from the Glitter Beard!
