I'm old enough that I've lived in a world where The Eagles were a band, broke up and weren't a band, then got back together and ruled the world again. The year was 1994 and The Eagles were back. Their album and tour 'Hell Freezes Over' took over the world. Now I knew who The Eagles were before that. What music lover didn't. But at that moment in time, even more people got to see the magic that Glenn Frey, Don Henley and company were capable of.

I was truly saddened to hear of Glenn Frey's death Monday. Love them or hate them, The Eagles are American music royalty. Working in country music for as long as I have, you could really hear their love of country in many of their songs. Heck, if The Eagles started out today their sound would be mainstream country radio ready! Country stars even did their own tribute album, 'Common Thread' back in the 90's. It featured country stars covering the best of The Eagles. Travis Tritt singing 'Take It Easy' is one of the big hits that many of you will remember.

I really love a lot of the Glenn Frey sung Eagles songs. 'New Kid in Town', 'Tequila Sunrise' just to name a couple. But perhaps my favorite is 'Peaceful, Easy Feeling'. It's the song that came to mind when I learned of Glenn's passing. It's what I hope that he has now achieved.
