I'm not going to lie to you. This isn't the first time I've locked car keys inside of a vehicle. I wish it was. But I'm all too familiar with the sickening feeling of seeing the keys you need in a car that is locked. However, this is the first time I've done it in a work vehicle.

After last night's March of Dimes benefit, it was late and I decided to just take the KHAK vehicle home. It's something I've done many times before. I had a bunch of things to carry in from the vehicle once I got home and I know I had the keys with me at one point. But as I discovered this morning, the must have slipped out of my hands and landed on the passenger seat as I got out and locked the doors. Ouch. Fortunately for me, Courtlin agreed to give me a ride in today. All that's left now is to get the keys out.

This isn't my most awkward key locked in car story. That story happened back when I was working nights on KHAK. I was living at home with my parents in Anamosa at the time. I got off at midnight and before heading home, I stopped at the Marion Hy-Vee store to get a pop and something to eat. When I returned to my car, I discovered I'd locked my keys inside. At 1 in the morning. You can imagine my dad's reaction when I called home asking him to bring the spare key 45 minutes to Marion. From that point on I carried a spare in my billfold. Here's hoping we have a spare key for the KHAK vehicle somewhere. It would save me another uncomfortable phone call.
